I will be discussing the topic of whether the movie “The Departed” directed by Martin Scorsese shows a depiction of the way of life in the movie or if it endorses that kinda of life. The movie is about a undercover cop that infiltrates Costello’s Mob (Leonardo DiCaprio) and a member of the mob that infiltrates the Police force (Matt Damon). They both have to figure out who each other is because it is know in both organizations that there is a rat among them. If they do not there is a high likely hood that they both die. In my opinion Scorsese was not trying to endorse the life of either of these people whether it is the career criminal Matt Damn portrays or the undercover cop that DiCaprio portrays. Instead I think Scorsese was just trying to depict what life may have been like for people that were in this situation. Scorsese does a great job with getting the viewer to mentally lock in to both sides and understand the difficulties that each character is going through during the movie and how one wrong comment or move could change everything for the characters.
